character. The award was named in honor of Dr. and Mrs. Donald
Joyce, long-standing community volunteers who gave generously of
their time, talent and treasure to many nonprofit organizations and
 medical missions.

This year’s honoree of the Joyce Award for Excellence in
Volunteerism is Janice Huff, MD. Dr. Huff has volunteered at NC
MedAssist for the last 17 years in many different capacities. She
has served as volunteer medical director, member of the Board of

 vulnerable in our community.

When it comes to ensuring opportunities for those in need, she is
an unwavering force. In her service to the community, Dr. Huff has
advocated for the uninsured within the Mecklenburg County Medical
Society by serving on the Physicians Reach Out Task Force, volunteering
her time at Charlotte Community Health Clinic and on the North
Carolina Medical Society’s access to health care committee. She has led
several physician leadership programs, both locally and at the
state level. She also has held several state positions,
such as president of the North Carolina Medical

 lifesaving prescription medications,
 patient support, advocacy, and related
