Independent Physicians of the Carolinas is a nonprofit 501(c)(6)
membership organization whose mission is to create public awareness
of medical doctors not employed by a network or hospital system and
to provide educational programs and resources to physician members

Oncology Specialists of Charlotte (OSC) sponsored the annual
Charlotte 5K event “Get Your Rear in Gear” for Colorectal Cancer
Awareness Month in March. The OSC team included Justin Favaro,
MD, his nurses, administrative staff, family members, and a patient
ambassador for the Joe Miller team, “It’s Miller Time!” Miller is a
cancer survivor who was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer at age
39. Since the inception of the Miller team four years ago, the group has
raised more than $100,000 to support colorectal cancer education and
early detection in the Charlotte community.

Charlotte Gastroenterology & Hepatology was pleased to once
again be a sponsor of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s Take
Steps walk. This year’s event was June 1 at Symphony Park in
Charlotte. Proceeds will help fund IBD research, patient services,
advocacy and professional education.
Dermatology Specialists of Charlotte has partnered with
DJL Clinical Research to expand its clinical research
department. Deborah Nixon. MD, has clinical trials in atopic
dermatitis, psoriatic arthritis, alopecia areata, acne (nutritional
supplement) and hidradenitis suppurativa.

Charlotte Skin & Laser is pleased to welcome Chrystell Cluck, PA-C,
to its practice. Cluck received her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology
with a minor in biology from the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill. She then completed her physician
assistant training at Wake Forest University School of
Medicine. She joined the practice in October and will be
providing full skin checks, as well as treating children, teens
and adults for common dermatology concerns. Charlotte
ChrystellCluck,PA-C Skin & Laser is excited to have her on board.
Southern Oncology Specialists (SOS) welcomes Jack Burton, MD,
to its practice. Dr. Burton previously directed the hematology/oncology
division at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. He obtained his
medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical
School in Minneapolis. He has extensive research experience
in solid tumor therapies and blood disorders. Boarded in
medical oncology, he is a member of the American Society
of Clinical Oncology and the American Association for
Cancer Research. Burton will see patients in all three SOS
