Oncology Specialists of Charlotte (OSC) recognizes the
outstanding support for a cure for breast cancer by its chemo
nurse, Joanne Monaco. The fourth annual FORE THE CURE
Susan G. Komen Charlotte event at Raintree Country Club was
another great success for Monaco, who spearheads the event
with the help of family and friends. More than $22,000 was
raised to fund the efforts of Komen Charlotte.
OSC’s oncologist, Jason Shultz, MD, formed
a team to raise funds and awareness, and OSC
oncologist, Dipika Misra, MD, spoke at the
Jason Shultz,MD reception about breast cancer.
Marc Darst, MD, of Darst Dermatology, has partnered with

currently is conducting studies in psoriasis and acne. Darst

Charlotte Gastroenterology & Hepatology welcomes Megan
Lindsay Stephens, MSN, RN, FNP-BC, WHNP-BC, to its
Huntersville team. Before joining Charlotte Gastro
in June, Stephens spent 11 years working as a nurse
practitioner at a gastroenterology practice outside
of Charlotte. While receiving her medical training
from the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Megan Lindsay Stephens, Hill, she was a member of the Honor Society of
MSN, RN, FNP-BC,WHNP-BC
Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International. She also is
a member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG).
Stephens is from Shelby. In her free time, she enjoys yoga and
spending time with her chocolate Labrador retriever.
David Smith, MD, Premier Cardiovascular Care, announces
the practice’s expansion to Monroe, offering the same quality and

Carolina Asthma & Allergy Center (CAAC) announces the addition
of Huntersville and Mooresville locations (previously
Allergy & Asthma Center of Lake Norman). CAAC
also welcomes Meghan Lemke, MD. Dr. Lemke
received her medical degree at Mayo Medical School
and completed a fellowship in Allergy & Immunology
at Vanderbilt University. She will see patients at
MeghanLemke,MD CAAC’s Huntersville & Mooresville locations.
Eastover Psychological & Psychiatric Group, announces that Chandler
Perry, PMHNP-BC, will join the practice this month. Perry earned her
BSN degree from East Carolina University and her MSN degree from the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, specializing in psychiatry/
mental health. During her time as a psychiatric nurse, Perry provided care
in inpatient psychiatric and dual diagnosis units, as well as comprehensive
mental health assessments in emergency department settings. Her nursing
experience includes pediatric, adolescent, civilian and active duty military
adults. Perry is a member of the American Nurses Association and North
Carolina Nurses Association. She is board-certified by the American
Nurses Credentialing Center as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse
Practitioner. She specializes in psychiatric medication management in
children, adolescents and adults.
iOrthoBIOLOGIX, a Bio-Restorative Stem Cell Orthopedic and
Sports Medicine Center in Ballantyne, recently celebrated its one-

Dr. James Barry was a British Army surgeon who graduated from
the University of Edinburgh in 1812. He practiced for more than 40
years around the world, improving the health of soldiers and civilians
alike. He was the first British surgeon to perform a C-section in Africa,
saving both mother and baby. He died in 1865, and upon preparing the
body for burial, it was discovered that Dr. Barry was a woman. Her
real identity was Margaret Ann Bulkley, and she was the first woman
in Britain to become a qualified medical doctor.
