Charlotte Area Medical Group Managers

PURPOSE

The Charlotte Area Medical Group Managers (CAMGM) exists as an organization for the general purpose of continuing education in the field of healthcare administration.  In addition, the group provides a forum to address issues on a local and national level. CAMGM, in areas that affect the medical community, offers its services as an advisory to and/ or representative group on healthcare administration.

Monthly meetings offer members the opportunity to learn from sponsors and program speakers, to network, and to exchange ideas that help with issues they face on a day-to-day basis.  Roundtable discussions on a designated topic are held every other month and allow participants to receive practtcal advice from their peers and/ or a subject matter expert .

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

CAMGM, in conjunction with the Mecklenburg and North Carolina medical societies and the North Carolina Medical Group Managers (NCMGM), played an active role in legislators passing critical legislation, including the Prompt Pay and Credentialing Acts as well as House Bill 1066, which requires managed care payers, among other things, to disclose fee schedules and claims bundling rules to physician practices.

In 2006, CAMGM has been working with area legislators to pass legislation on a uniform insurance card, setting a time limit on payer-requested refunds, and requiring payors to recognize assignment of benefits authorizations.  Additionally, a major issue currently in process for many physicians in the state is legislation involving professional liability reform.  With strength in numbers, CAMGM members can do their part to show support for issues that benefit physicians and patients.
