Physicians Reach Out (PRO) 

Started in 2004 by the Mecklenburg County Medical Society, Physicians Reach Out (PRO) is a physician-led, public-private partnership of more than 1,300 area physicians who provide free care to low-income, uninsured residents of Mecklenburg County.  Since its inception, PRO has served more than 5,000 clients and leveraged over $20 million in donated health care services.   

Care Ring, formerly Community Health Services, a Charlotte-based health care nonprofit established in 1955, has been a strong partner with PRO since its inception.   

On November 1, 2008, PRO officially became a program of Care Ring, while the Mecklenburg County Medical Society continues to provide physicians leadership and guidance.
