Community Orientations

Please call 704-371-4740 after October 1, 2008 to find out about the next scheduled orientation

reachout If you are interested in PRO, you must attend an orientation meeting to find out if you are eligible and to receive an application. Call the PRO office at 704-371-4740 to find out about the next meeting.

You do not need to bring anything to the orientation meeting. After the orientation, if the staff thinks you may be eligible, you will be given an appointment.

You may be eligible for PRO services if you meet all of the following conditions:

Can provide proof of employment; Social Security, Unemployment, or Workman's Compensation benefits; or support from friends/family.
Do not currently have health insurance through your employer or have it offered to you and/or your family.If requested, you may have to provide proof of this in writing to us.
Do not have Medicaid or Medicare.
Have low income: Family of 1 Income Limit: $20,800;
Family of 2 Income Limit: $28,000; Family of 3 Income Limit: $35,000; Familyof 4 Income Limit: $42,400 (Family means Mom, Dad, and Children under 21).

What is Physicians Reach Out?
Physicians Reach Out (PRO) is a non-profit community outreach program that provides medical services to eligible uninsured residents of Mecklenburg County.Our goal is to provide eligible, uninsured patients in need of primary and specialized medical care with the services they require.

What services and benefits does PRO provide (at low or no cost)?
Primary medical care and specialty medical care; diagnostic testing services; most laboratory services; hospitalizations (inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room visits); most prescription medications through collaboration with MedAssist of Mecklenburg.

The Children and Family Services Center building is located on the corner of 5th and N. Davidson uptown. The parking lot directly next to the building is available for parking, and we will give you a token so you can park for free.

Click here to see a map of alternate parking. It is important that all PRO applicants understand that parking is limited in the parking lot for the Children and Family Services Building. Please be prepared to pay for alternate parking in the event our parking lot is full.
