About MCMS

The Mecklenburg County Medical Society, located in Charlotte, North Carolina is a nonprofit professional society of more than 1,300 physician members. The MCMS is committed to the profession of medicine and to the people it serves.

The MCMS is involved in numerous public services and community activities to provide education, awareness and access to various community health resources and health education.  Through MCMS, members are given the opportunity to serve both the medical and lay communities and maintain a vital connection to each other.

The following programs were formed through the MCMS and represent our commitment to our members and the community:

• Physicians Reach Out – a program for uninsured in Mecklenburg County
  (now at Care Ring – patients interested in enrolling can call 704-375-0172)

• Teen Health Connection – provides medical care for adolescents
• MedAssist of Mecklenburg (now NC MedAssist) – a free pharmacy
• Hospitality House – home-away-from-home for families with patients in area hospitals
• Bioethics Resource Group – public education on bioethical issues, such as end-of-life care

Our Mission:  To unite, serve and represent our members as advocates for our patients, for the health of the community and for the profession of medicine.
